Introduction to Karak :

 Karak is a district of the  province of Pakistan. It is situated to the south of Kohat District  and on the north side of Bannu and on the east of Lakki Marwat districts on the main Indus Highway between Peshawar and - It is 122 km from the provincial capital Peshawar and almost 250 km from the capital Islamabad. Karak population is 729,000 (2014). Its total area is 3,372 km square, much higher the most of the other big districts. In July 1982 it was given the status of District.

Dams

Dams play important role in providing drinking water and water for agriculture purposes and also Dams are great sources of entertainment. I'm feeling sad while saying that although Karak has a lot of small dams but the administration is totally fail to make a solid use of them.

Small dams are built to store the rain water to elevate the underground water level. Here is the list of Dams in Karak district:

Climate[Aab-o-Haw]

The climate is hot during the summers, with temperature touching 40-45, and sand storms are common in Tehsil Takht-e-Nasrati and other areas. However, Lakkara(Shamshaki) regions are the coolest part in summer where people use blankets at night. The best time to visit is between Nov-April with lush green fields of wheat, grams.
In winter one can enjoy the cool weather of temperature below 0. In-fact Karak climate is aggressive in both winter and summer like other parts of the province.

There are a number of Weekly Bachat Bazar (Mela) having very important role in the social, economical and Cultural infrastructure of Karak. All the peoples of Karak attending these festivals as an entertainment, business and cultural events which bring them together on one plate form. These Melay are also used for Public announcement (Dandora) of any Public interest and also provide a low cost shopping facility to the peoples of karak and its neighbors that are coming for buying their daily stuff consists of fruits, vegetables, catles, and other stuff.

Administation: Tehsils and Members

There are three tehsils in the district. These include Karak, Banda Daud Shah and Takht-e-Nasrati. Almost all main offices are located in the Karak City.
There is one Electoral Constituency for National Assembly and two Constituencies for Provincial Assembly: PF-40 (Karak-1) MPA Gul Sahib Khan Khattak from PTI PF-41 is currently on this seat. (Karak-2) MPA Malik Qasim Khan Khattak from PTI and Nasir Khan Khattak is the MNA of Karak District. Karak has almost 23 (not exactly) Union councils.

OIL & GAS:
Alhamdo Lillah Gas has been provided to whole district of Karak which is indeed a favorable action taken by the government.
Nashpa oil field is said to be the Pakistan largest oil field.
Central Processing Facility (CPF), Makori. Already installed & contributing to national economy since years.
Refinery:

Karak Oil Refinery on papers & soon will be built near the village "KARRAPA" insha Allah but still not decided. Utility water is being planned to be tapped from "Tanda Dam" Kohat to meet the refinery needs. We hope that Karak oil refinery will be very soon constructed is Karak district because it is the right of the people of Karak.

Karak a Unique District:


Karak district has a unique quality of being a district with only one caste that is Khattak, with only single sect that is Deoband (Tablighi Jumaat) and with only one language spoken here that is Pashto.
In 1986 Karak was a part of Pindi division but in 1982 it was given the rights of District. Karak is now part of Kohat division. Its neighbors are Kohat, Lucky Marwat, Bannu and on its South there is the areas of Mianwali i.e Punjab. Total area of this district is 3372 square km which is higher than its neighbors and also Peshawar.
